In a survey conducted by E-Poll Market Research and released by Forbes, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was the most disliked player in the NFL with 53% of the 1,100 respondents to the survey saying they disliked Vick. The controversial quarterback was signed by the Eagles in 2009 following 19 months in prison on dogfighting charges.
In a close second was San Diego Chargers linebacker Manti Te’o, with 48% of respondents expressing their dislike for Te’o. The former Heisman Trophy candidate from Notre Dame plummeted in popularity following the revelation that the story of his girlfriend who died during the season was a hoax. Te’o has never been directly implicated in the hoax.
Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was ranked as the 3rd most disliked NFL athlete, with 43% of respondents expressing their distaste for the controversial player. Suh has already received over $200,000 in fines for his play on the field over the course of his 3 years in the league and has been rated by peers as the dirtiest player in the NFL.
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez came in 4th and 5th respectively on the list. Both Roethlisberger and Sanchez were disliked by 40% of respondents to the survey.
