Report: Adrian Peterson's 2-Year-Old Son in Critical Condition After Being Beaten by Mother's Boyfriend

Minnesota Vikings superstar Adrian Peterson’s 2-year-old son is reportedly in critical condition after he was severely beaten by his mother’s boyfriend in South Dakota.

After numerous reports indicated Peterson had gone to South Dakota to deal with a tragic family situation, TMZ reported that 27-year-old Joseph Patterson, the boyfriend of the mother of Peterson’s child, has been arrested and “charged with aggravated felony assault and battery of an infant.” The information was used in stories on other sites like ProFootballTalk.

According to police, “emergency responders arrived to the apartment where Peterson’s son was living at 5:46 PM on Wednesday … and found the child unresponsive.” Peterson’s son “was rushed to a nearby hospital” and his “severe head injuries” were “consistent with abuse.”

Peterson’s father, Nelson Peterson, confirmed that the child was Peterson’s son after conflicting reports.

“All I can say is, we are asking for prayers and for respect for our family as we deal with this tragic situation,” he told the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
