Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is expected to be on next year’s selection committee for the inaugural College Football Playoff. The panel is expected to be made up of mostly of athletic directors and former athletic administrators and coaches. There will be one former journalist on the panel as well.
Selection for the panel is still ongoing and the final committee is expected to be set by the end of the current season. The four-team playoff will replace the controversial BCS system that has caused in plenty of anger among fans and coaches alike.
Rice, along with business executive Darla Moore, was welcomed as one of the first two female members of Augusta National Golf Club earlier this year. Rice has also been featured in an NFL promo this season and has repeatedly stated her dream job is to be the NFL commissioner.
The former Stanford provost is often called the school’s “secret weapon” in helping the team recruit football players and is also a Notre Dame football fan. Notre Dame is one of Rice’s alma maters.
