The best pitcher in baseball is now the most valuable, according to Value Add Baseball. Arizona’s Patrick Corbin appears to have run out of gas, getting knocked out early Sunday for the second straight game to drop from a Value Add ranking of 15.71 to 15.18 to come in second behind Clayton Kershaw.

Kershaw would likely start in Games 1 and 5 of an opening playoff series, giving the Dodgers a dominant edge. Not only is Kershaw now the move valuable player, but Zack Greinke comes in at No. 13 in all of baseball and Ricky Nolasco and Hyun-Jin Ryu are among the Top 26 pitchers in the game according to Value Add Baseball. As a whole, the Dodgers rank behind only the Tigers, but the top four that would likely pitch in the playoffs is stronger.
The Reds Mat Latos (ranked 4th of all pitchers) and the Cardinals Adam Wainwright (8th) will face more pressure this week as they may be able to pitcher their team to the top of the NL Central – or either could be lined up to pitch the wild card game against the Pirates or each other.
