Injuries to hands and fingers are fairly common in football, but not of the nature that Arizona Cardinals’ safety Rashad Johnson experienced on Sunday. After a normal tackle, Johnson came to the sideline and removed his glove to find part of his finger left inside.
Johnson lost part of his middle finger on his left hand down to his first knuckle on a tackle of New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles. According to reports, Rashad Johnson was oblivious to the fact that he had lost part of his finger until removing his glove.
Johnson had surgery after the Cardinals’ 31-7 loss to the Saints, with doctors making some repairs, but the top portion of his finger down to his first knuckle was ultimately lost. Johnson had started each of the Cardinals’ first three games this season.
