Tim Tebow survived another morning as one of 65 remaining New England Patriots. The Patriots cut another 10 players, including tight ends Jake Ballard and Daniel Fells, but will still need to cut an additional 12 players to get to 53. An earlier piece noted that Tebow physically measures up as a tight end.
Tebow skeptics point out that he completed well under half of his passes in the preseason which would leave him far behind any other NFL quarterback from last season. He sat the third preseason game to come into the finale having one only 5-19 for 2.8 yard per attempt, but had a much better 6-11 for 8.3 yards per attempt.
Tebow fans were encouraged by his two touchdown passes in the preseason finale, arguing that he would not have been given an entire half under center if he were not seriously being considered prior to scrambling effectively in addition to the touchdown passes.
As wide as the difference was between the his finale and the other games, Tebow was incredibly consistent running the ball in the three games in which he played. He had either 30 or 31 yards in all three games, and averaged at least 5.0 yard per carry in all three games, leaving open the possibility he could come in as a wildcat quarterback, tight end, or even in a new alignment with Tom Brady.
