An eyebrow-raising story appears in John Bacon’s new book, Fourth and Long: The Fight for the Soul of College Football, regarding Snoop Dogg, one of college football’s most controversial coaches, an available star running back, and USC, a school already on probation.
Now, the school, its coach, and its star are denying the claim which states that Lane Kiffin called the rapper, asking him to drive Silas Redd, the former Penn State running back, in his limo from the airport to the school.
“That would have been tough to have happened because I personallypicked up Silas myself in my own car. So, that must have been anotherSilas,” Kiffin said.
“Silas Redd has never met Snoop Dogg, much less received a ride fromhim in any type of vehicle. USC head Coach Lane Kiffin picked up Silasfrom the airport on his recruiting visit,” declared a statement issued by the university, adding “Bacon never contacted Redd or USC to confirm thisreport before publishing his book.”
The running back also voiced his thoughts on the situation.
“I’ve never met Snoop Dogg in my life, much less been in his limo,” said Redd, who is likely to miss the season opener. “Coach Kiffin picked me up from the airport. The person who wrote that has no credibility whatsoever.”
Bacon’s book, which details the story, is focused on following the Penn State football program in the aftermath of its devastating sanctions.
