President Obama enjoyed one of his favorite activities Monday when he welcomed the San Francisco Giants to the White House to honor their World Series win. However, the president was perhaps extra enthusiastic this time because he was not only welcoming the World Series champions, but political allies as well.
Obama thanked the Giants’ organization for taking a leadership role in the LGBT community.
Praising the franchise, Obama declared, “the team won a national award for their support of the LGBT community. Two years ago, the Giants became the first professional sports franchise to record an ‘It Gets Better’ video to help bullied youth.”
The “It Gets Better” program is an Obama administration initiative.
The Giants also received praise for building a vegetable garden in the center-field bleachers, an effort that coincides with the First Lady’s focus of eating healthier. However, before we get too worried, the president did confirm that he would allow the time-honored tradition of eating hot dogs to continue… for now.
