The Houston Rockets met with superstar free agent Dwight Howard Monday in the hopes of luring their long coveted big man to the franchise.
However, according to ESPN, the controversial star had a request of the Rockets: add another star alongside himself and James Harden to form a “Big 3” in the mode of two-time reigning champion Miami Heat.
In response, the team has already put Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik, their two free agent signings from last offseason, on the market and dealt second year forward Thomas Robinson to attempt to clear cap space.
Atlanta’s Josh Smith would be the most likely target in any “Big 3” scenario.
Houston has been eying Howard for years now and pairing the talented yet immature center with Harden and another elite caliber player would certainly enhance the team’s status in the hunt to remain competitive with the Heat.
