Blue Jays Above .500 for First Time Since July 29 of Last Season

For the first time since July 29^th of last season the Toronto Blue Jays are above .500, and they don’t seem as though they will be dropping below .500 again anytime soon. The Blue Jays came into today’s game against the Baltimore Orioles with a 36-36 record and riding a 9-game winning streak.

The win streak and the Blue Jays’ chance at their first appearance above .500 since July of last season seemed in jeopardy heading into the bottom of the 8^th with the score tied 2-2. With two outs and a runner on first, Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista stepped in the box and laced a homer just inside the foul pole over the left field fence, plating the decisive runs in a 4-2 victory.

Toronto’s Darren Oliver picked up the win, making his record 3-1, while the Orioles Miguel Gonzalez took the loss, dropping his record to 5-3. The Blue Jays will look to sweep the Orioles and extend their win streak to 11 games Sunday afternoon.
