A few days before Michael Jordan’s 50th birthday, Breitbart Sports asked if it was too soon to compare LeBron James as potentially the greatest player of all time. After watching James win his second straight title, Magic Johnson posed the question Thursday. “Can I catch Michael? That’s what this is about,” Johnson said in post game comments. “We need to appreciate greatness when we see it.”
He went on to urge talk radio hosts and fans not to attack James but to appreciate that he is “the real deal.”
One of his co-hosts, Bill Simmons, said James is already in the top 10 of all time, and “he is only 28 years old.” Simmons wrote the New York Times best-seller, “The Book of Basketball: The NBA According to the Sports Guy,” in which he evaluated every case in which he believed the wrong MVP was chosen.
Johnson said James was the one player who has the chance to become the greatest player in NBA history.
