Ronald Holmes, the father of soon-to-be NBA rookie Shabazz Muhammad, has made the news again. Earlier this year it was revealed he had lied about his son’s age to enhance his reputation as a basketball player.
The indictment accuses Holmes of using illegal and fraudulent means to obtain loans to purchase homes, and the U.S. Attorney’s office is looking to get more than $2.5 million from the chronic deceiver.
Holmes was accused of a similar crime in 1999 that resulted in payment of $78,000. With his son already being one of the more controversial figures in the draft, the father could not have picked a worse time to muddy the waters of Shabazz’s draft status even further.
