Jason Collins may not have apologized to his ex-fiancee, Carolyn Moos, for ending their engagement and leading her on for eight years even though he knew he was gay.
Moos said she was stunned when Collins ended the engagement and even more so when he called her last weekend to let her know that he was gay, and that was the reason why he ended their relationship.
In an appearance on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” on Tuesday, Moos was asked if Collins ever apologized, and she did not say that he did.
Piers Morgan asked Moos: “Did he apologize to you?”
Moos replied:
I think he’s in the process of taking ownership of the here and now, which is actually coming out, you know. That can be very, I assume, overwhelming. You know, I did invest eight years in our relationship with a shared dream and vision with him. And I value that. I had to rewrite the script. And I still am rewriting it. And it’s been very challenging. So you know, that’s a natural — hopefully a natural progression for him to look at things from all different angles. And as he becomes more comfortable with himself, I think that time will allow for some perspective on that as well.
Morgan said he thought Moos had shown “remarkable courage” for the relationship “so frankly” and wished her “all the very best in finding real happiness going forward.” In a extremely poised interview, Moos said, like all women, she wrote a script about her future with Collins and now has to deal with the realization that she has to rewrite that script.
Earlier on Tuesday, Moos told TMZ how devastating it was to have invested eight years of her life to the relationship.
“It’s very emotional for me as a woman to have invested 8 years in my dream to have a husband, soul mate, and best friend in him. So this is all hard to understand.” Moos said. “I care about [Jason] tremendously and only want the best for him. I want Jason to be happy for a lifetime and stay true to who he really is, inside and out.”
