Dirk Nowitzki has made the case for being the best foreign player ever to play in the NBA. Now, few could dispute that the German Maverick is among the all-time greats in professional basketball.
On Sunday night, Nowitzki joined Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett as the only active NBA players that are a part of the 17 member fraternity of players who have scored 25,000 points over the course of their career.
Moreover, the seven footer became just the ninth player to score 25,000 and bring in over 9,000 rebounds, joining a list that includes Garnett, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Karl Malone, Shaquille O’Neal, Moses Malone, Elvin Hayes, and Hakeem Olajuwon.
Nowitzki is having his lowest scoring season since his rookie year, averaging 17.2 points per game, and his Mavericks are sitting in 10th place in the Western Conference.
