Yet another of the nation’s top recruits from the Class of 2012 is set to transfer. Joining former Notre Dame quarterback Gunner Kiel, who has narrowed his list of schools, is running back Rushel Shell who will be leaving Pittsburgh.
Unlike Kiel, Shell earned playing time as a freshman, rushing for 641 yards, and was set to be the featured back for the Panthers this year.
Although neither the reason for the transfer nor potential destinations for Shell are yet known, some have speculated Shell could be headed west with Arizona State specifically mentioned as a destination. Todd Graham, who recruited Shell to Pitt, now coaches the Sun Devils.
