For those of us that follow recruiting, we know it can get ridiculous. Coaches, accomplished men in their field, essentially grovel for the service of players who have barely begun to shave, and fans follow the Twitter accounts and pay hard earned money to get premium information on prospects who have not yet attended their prom.
However, Mississippi State may have added to the ridiculousness with a letter (pictured) that looks far more like it was sent from a third grader than a college football coach.
Reading simply, “You’re a Baller,” the letter to Michigan commit Michael Ferns had the opposite affect of the intentions behind it. Ferns mockingly tweeted it out, and, although players flip their commitments all the time, it is unlikely that the prospect will be flipping to the Bulldogs. Mississippi State fans have gone to their blogs to ask someone to tell them this was an April Fools joke from someone else and not an actual letter from the University.
