The dominoes are beginning to fall in the race for second-tier quarterbacks as Matt Flynn was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Oakland Raiders for late round picks in 2014 and 2015.

Flynn was signed last year by the Seahawks as their presumed starter for 2012 after he was impressive as a backup for the Green Bay Packers. However, he was beaten out by Russell Wilson for the starting job which made him a nice bargaining tool for Seattle this offseason.

The deal for Flynn means that he will likely be penciled in as the Raiders likely starter, however, he will have to hold off athletic third-year quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Vince Young has been mentioned as a possible target for the Raiders in free agency as well.

Oakland will now look to unload Carson Palmer who refused to restructure his deal to create cap room for the Raiders. Arizona and Tampa Bay have been mentioned as possible destinations.

Kevin Kolb, who was considered a back-up plan for the Raiders if this deal fell through, signed with the Bills prior to the deal getting done. Other quarterbacks could be on the move, and teams will now be able to look to the draft if they need an immediate starter or one that they can groom.

While many have speculated that Oakland could begin a run on quarterbacks at #3, I have never felt that was a likely scenario, and that is all the more the case after this trade.
