In a cost cutting move, the Atlanta Falcons have cut three crucial components to their recent string of success.
Running back Michael Turner, cornerback Dunta Robinson, and defensive end John Abraham, three players who have been cornerstones for the defending NFC runner-up, will be playing for new teams next season.
The moves provide the Falcons with $22.75 million in cap space to re-sign other players, pursue veteran free agents like running back Steven Jackson or defensive end Osi Umenyiora, and build a younger team.
All three released players are over thirty and, with the possible exception of Robinson, on the down side of their careers.
