A season that has seen some seismic shifts in the NBA balance of power produces an interesting and unexpected Top 10 teams at the season’s midway point.
10. Brooklyn Nets. All the talent they need, and will make some deadline deals to get better.
9. Indiana Pacers. If Roy Hibbert steps up a little bit more, watch out- he’s the best center in the East.
8. Denver Nuggets. Good coaching is the best thing they have going, but they really are making the most of what they have.
7. Golden State Warriors. First the Kings, then the Giants, then the Niners, now the Warriors are scary good and getting better. It’s a golden era for sports in the Golden State.
6. NY Knicks. Tough division, have problems staying healthy, but MSG has been rocking this year.
5. Memphis Grizzlies. Trading Gay will hurt them. How much remains to be seen, but enough to knock them out of one of the top 4 seeds in the West, possibly.
4. LA Clippers. When healthy, they are the best. But they cannot seem to stay healthy in Lob City.
3. Oklahoma City. They do miss Harden, but the rest of the team is so good you may not notice.
2. Miami Heat. Is anyone better than LeBron this year? Not likely.
1. San Antonio Spurs. This team should not be this good, based on talent and age. But Father Time forgot this team, Coach Pop is the best in the game right now, and fundamentals matter. The question now is have they adjusted to still be the best team as the playoffs wear on – or if they have a playoff fade again after being the best regular season team.
