Matt Barkley, the USC quarterback, will not be throwing at this week’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis according to reports.
The Trojan suffered a separated shoulder last season that prevented him from playing in the Sun Bowl and participating in the Senior Bowl.
Barkley’s arm strength has been questioned, so scouts will have to wait until USC’s Pro Day on March 27th to get a read on his throwing ability as an NFL prospect.
It is expected that Barkley will do well in interviews, and he may participate in other drills. However, other top quarterbacks like Geno Smith (West Virginia), Tyler Wilson (Arkansas), and Mike Glennon (NC State) are expected to throw.
Barkley was projected #8 to the Buffalo Bills although taking him higher than late in the first round would be a reach.
