After Beyonce admitted to lip-syncing the national anthem at President Barack Obama’s second inauguration during an unusual Super Bowl press conference, the singer said she was actually “very proud” of that performance. Beyonce also belted out “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the press conference.
“Due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk,” Beyonce said at a Thursday Super Bowl press conference. “It was about the president and the inauguration, and I wanted to make him and my country proud, so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry. And I’m very proud of my performance.”
Beyonce will perform at halftime of Sunday’s Super Bowl between San Francisco and Baltimore.
