Rep. Mike Conaway (R-TX) joined SiriusXM hosts Matt Boyle and Amanda House on Breitbart News Sunday and discussed the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Russia and the Trump campaign.
Conaway, a senior member of the committee, led the investigation after committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) recused himself from leading it.
The committee ended their investigation last month, finding no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, despite interviewing more than 70 witnesses.
Critics slammed Nunes as biased in favor of Trump, but Conaway, who was chosen by House leadership to lead the investigation, also said Sunday there was no evidence of collusion and suggested it was fabricated by Democrats.
“I led that investigation as well, and we found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia,” he said.
“Obviously the Trump dossier — paid for by the Democrats — created a vision of collusion in that regard,” he added.
Conaway was referring to the dossier funded by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) that alleged the Trump campaign had colluded with Russia.
Democrats, particularly House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Adam Schiff (D-CA) had pointed to the dossier as evidence of collusion, reciting its charges in his opening statement during a March 2017 hearing.
Since then, he has backed away from citing the dossier as evidence, instead claiming that disparate meetings and contacts between Trump campaign members and Russians amounted to collusion.
Breitbart News Sunday airs on SiriusXM Patriot 125 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern.
