Jamie Williamson on Defending Freedom: ‘Once the Guns Are Gone, You Can Forget About Everything Else’

Retired U.S. Army special forces Colonel Jamie Williamson, president of the Special Ops OPSEC Education Fund, joined SiriusXM host Stephen K. Bannon on Friday’s Breitbart News Daily to discuss the House Benghazi Committee report, which was released this week.

“We felt a certain amount of vindication, for somebody who walked the halls of Congress for about ten days, trying to get the Select Committee established,” Williamson said. “The question now that remains, Steve, is: will anything be done about it?”

He said blame could be divided between “the President himself, Secretary Clinton, and then General Petraeus,” referring to then-CIA Director David Petraeus.

“The question is, does anybody really care anymore?” Williamson asked bitterly. “I’m talking about America. I’m talking about constituency. It’s just one thing after another, like your previous caller had said – is that okay, the optics of that, having a private meeting while his wife is under investigation?”

This referred to a Breitbart News Daily listener who brought up former President Bill Clinton’s clandestine meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch, even as Hillary Clinton is under criminal investigation by the FBI for her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state. The meeting became a significant scandal, making even some partisan Democrats uneasy, after it was discovered.

Williamson said, with dismay, that he doubted the American people were ready to rise up in revolt against the corruption of their government.

“That’s what concerns me. The blood and treasure that’s been spilled already, and now the freedoms that we do enjoy, the ones that we have left, seems like they’re taken for granted,” he said.

“And now they’re making a grab for the guns. Well, once the guns are gone, you can forget about everything else,” he warned. “Our Founding Fathers wrote the Second Amendment not to protect us from a foreign nation, but from a tyrannical government from within.”

Williamson added that he was “not real pleased” that House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) has scheduled a vote on gun control legislation next week.

Bannon countered Williamson’s gloomy assessment by saluting him as one of the leaders – along with tireless watchdogs like David Bossie of Citizens United, Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch, and Peter Schweizer of the Government Accountability Institute – who were bypassing inert official monitors and compliant media to push back against corruption.

Bannon suggested that if the work of these advocacy groups was not troubling the Obama administration, it would not be pulling desperation moves, such as trying to hide Clinton Foundation records from lawful Freedom of Information Act requests for two-and-a-half years.

Williamson invited listeners to visit his group’s website, www.opsecteam.org, to see their own contributions to the great grassroots accountability project. “We have some videos; ‘Dishonorable Disclosures’ went viral during the last election season,” he said.

“But you’re right: people need to become active,” he told Bannon. “They need to become involved. Otherwise, we’re going to lose the freedoms that we have.”

Breitbart News Daily airs on SiriusXM Patriot 125 weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Eastern.
