Rep. James Comer (R-KY), House Oversight Committee chair, requested on Monday the Secret Service disclose visitor records from President Joe Biden’s Wilmington residence encompassing the time frame after he was vice president.
The request comes after the Justice Department searched Biden’s home on Friday and found classified materials related to the time when he was vice president. The DOJ is reportedly considering searching additional locations linked to him for classified documents.
“Given the White House’s lack of transparency regarding President Biden’s residential visitor logs, the Committee seeks information from the Secret Service regarding who had access to his home since serving as Vice President,” Comer wrote to the Director of the Secret Service Kimberly Cheatle.
Comer’s letter sought “all documents and communications related to visitor information at President Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware home from January 20, 2017, to present.”
The agency and the White House have denied it maintains visitor logs at Biden’s Wilmington home while he was president.
“We don’t independently maintain our own visitor logs because it’s a private residence,” Secret Service’s communications chief, Anthony Guglielmi, stated on January 16.
But on January 19, Fox News reported the Secret Service was reportedly willing to reverse course and disclose visitor “records” from Biden’s Wilmington residence from his time as president. It’s those records the Secret Service is reportedly willing to turn over to Congress.
