A group of Florida-based medical professionals at Miami’s Jackson South Medical Center began their day with a rooftop prayer, kneeling and asking for God’s “guidance and protection” as they and others on the front lines continue to battle the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the nation.

The Jackson Health System on Wednesday posted a photo showing a group of medical professionals kneeling on a rooftop before beginning their day.

“This is how we started our morning today. Our team said a prayer, asking God for guidance and protection while we are at work, and to keep us and our families safe,” senior ER tech Danny Rodriguez said:

Similarly, a photo showing a group of praying nurses and surgical technicians at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, went viral this week.

Vanderbilt Health said on social media alongside the touching image:

We wanted to share this beautiful moment that was captured by a staff member when members of our team spent a few extra minutes on our helipad praying for their unit, Vanderbilt employees, patients and families & all of our colleagues around the world taking care of patients,” Vanderbilt Health said on social media alongside the touching image.

Millions of Americans across the nation are tapping into their faith as the coronavirus pandemic continues to unfold across the nation. Clay Bentley, a retired sheriff’s deputy from Georgia who contracted the virus, told his story on Fox @ Night last week, crediting his miraculous recovery to God, whom he says came into his hospital room and breathed into his lungs:

“You know I was in the hospital for about 12 days. I guess it was around the fifth or sixth day, the doctors told me we tried everything,” he explained.

“We ran all these antibiotics through you. We’ve done all these tests, and he said, ‘You’re worse today than you were when you came in the hospital,’” he continued, noting that the doctor stressed the importance of getting the fluid out of his lungs.

At that point, Bentley said he heard God tell him, “You’re getting better.”

“I’m just going to tell you, I heard the voice of the Lord tell me as he was telling me that,” he says, ‘You’re getting better. You’re getting better,’” he said.

“And about I guess it was about 3 o’clock in the morning I got to the point where I couldn’t even breathe, and I tell you I felt like I had a man laying on my chest and the weight of this man was so heavy that he was taking my breath,” Bentley said.

“I mean, it was like I couldn’t even breathe,” he said. “And then all of a sudden I felt this — I felt air blown into my lungs and I know as a believer that God was there with me, and he began to blow air in my lungs and I took a deep breath.”

The next morning, Bentley had hardly any fluid in his lungs — a development that seemed to surprise the doctor, who according to Bentley, said, “Yesterday you were worse than you’ve ever been and I come in here today and you don’t have hardly any fluid in your lungs at all.”

While the doctor seemed to attribute the miracle to the “positive energy” created by prayerful individuals, Bentley remained steadfast.

“And I said, ‘You can believe that if you want to, but I’m telling you, God came in my room last night and healed me,'” he said.
