A woman armed with a 9mm handgun shot an intrusion suspect in the neck Sunday night in Bloomington, Indiana.
The Bloomingtonian reports the armed suspect wearing a ski mask entered an apartment around 10 p.m., finding two occupants, a man and a 24-year-old woman, inside. The man struggled with the suspect in an attempt to disarm him, while the woman drew a 9mm handgun from her purse and shot the alleged intruder.
The Hoosier Times reports the woman shot the suspect in the neck and then allegedly left the scene, but later talked to law enforcement about the incident.
The wounded suspect was rushed to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Police believe drugs may have been a factor in the incident and they also note that a second suspect was believed present, but fled the scene once the woman shot the first suspect.
The Bloomington Police Department indicates, “investigators are still working to determine the identity of the other man involved in the attempted robbery.”
