President Donald Trump said Sunday at the White House that he would not call former presidents George W. Bush or Barack Obama for advice about handling the coronavirus crisis.
President Trump was asked about contacting previous presidents by a reporter during the White House press briefing on Sunday evening.
“I respect everybody, but I feel I have an incredible team and we’re doing an incredible job,” he said.
The president indicated that Obama was president during the H1N1 outbreak and that Bush presided over the response to Hurricane Katrina.
“I don’t want to disturb them, bother them. I don’t think that I’m going to learn much,” Trump said, adding, “There’s probably a natural inclination not to call.”
The president said that he would call either president if he felt that it would save even one life.
“I don’t see that happening,” he said.
