Amid the rush for guns and ammo sales, a store owner in Arizona told Breitbart News the buying surge surpasses even the tremendous run witnessed during the post-Sandy Hook gun control push.
Kyle Olsen, owner of Olsen Firearms, said, “We’ve never seen anything like this.” He specifically described the sales surge as eclipsing what his store witnessed in January 2013, a time when Joe Biden was pushing numerous post-Sandy Hook gun controls for Barack Obama.
During the day, his sales team waited on customers while lines formed full of more customers waiting to be next. Gun after gun after gun was sold.
Scottsdale, Arizona’s Scottsdale Gun Club told a similar story, and Riverfields, Amarillo, Texas, described a flurry of buyers as well.
On March 18, 2020, Breitbart News reported Colorado gun sales jumped 100 percent last week alone. KDVR reported 14,000 firearms were sold in the state last week, which is a 100 percent increase over the 7,000 that were sold in that same week one year ago.
The Hill reports a national surge in gun sales as well. They suggest the surge began in the states that were most effected by the Chinese coronavirus–Washington, California, New York–then swept through the rest of the country from there.
Ammunition sales are running high too. Breitbart News reported that Ammo.com witnessed a 276 percent increase in sales last week alone.
The Hill quoted Ammo.com’s Alex Horsman saying, “We know certain things impact ammo sales, mostly political events or economic instability when people feel their rights may end up infringed, but this is our first experience with a virus leading to such a boost in sales.”
