Anti-Trump media figures fell for an old fake President Donald Trump tweet on Monday that was debunked over a year ago.

The fake tweet falsely claims that Trump called for former President Barack Obama to be shot into the sun after the stock market dropped over 1000 points.

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Never Trumper political consultant Rick Wilson shared the tweet on Twitter.

“I agree, Mr. President,” Wilson wrote on Twitter.

“What if it drops more than 2,000 ‘points’ in a ‘Single day’?” Scarborough asked, also sharing the tweet and joking that “Dow Joans” was “a great Athens, Georgia band. (Scarborough’s comment was later deleted, but not before images of it were captured.)

The screenshot of the fake tweet repeatedly gets shared particularly on bad stock market days, even though it was debunked by Snopes in 2018.
