A Hill-HarrisX poll released Thursday shows Democrat support for impeaching President Trump has slightly slipped following former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s testimonies before two House committees last week.

Recent polls have shown the majority of Democrats support impeachment, but according to the Hill-HarrisX poll released Thursday – over a week after Mueller’s testimonies – support is slowly slipping.

The survey – which polled 1,000 registered voters between July 27-28, 2019 –  found 67 percent of Democrats still support impeachment. However, the same poll taken in May showed Democrat support for impeachment at 71 percent.  The margin of error for Democrat voters is +/- 5.1 percent.

While support for an impeachment inquiry among Republicans and independents is still low, it has risen over the past few months.

According to the Hill:

Seventeen percent of GOP voters say they would support an impeachment inquiry, an increase of 8 percent. More than a third — 35 percent of independent voters said the same, which represents a 9-point bump.

Overall, voters in the latest poll were split evenly on the issue at 41 percent, while 18 percent remain unsure.

HarrisX conducted the survey of 1,000 registered voters between July 27 and July 28. The margin of error for the sample is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

Mueller confirmed during his testimony he found no evidence of collusion or conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia. He also corrected Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA), who asserted that Mueller “didn’t charge the president because of the OLC opinion.”

“That is not the correct way to say it. As we say in the report and as I said in the opening, we did not reach a determination as to whether the president committed a crime,” Mueller clarified.

Despite that, there have been widespread calls for impeachment among Democrats in Hollywood and the House. House Democrats launched an “impeachment investigation” last week, following Mueller’s testimonies. Over half of Democrats in the House now support launching an impeachment inquiry–118 out of 235.
