President Donald Trump said Thursday he was willing to welcome the Toronto Raptors to the White House to celebrate their NBA championship.
“We’ll think about that, if they’d like to do it,” Trump said at the White House during a visit with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the White House.
Trump told Canadian reporters at the White House that he watched part of the game and complimented them for playing “phenomenal basketball.”
“They were really terrific. Congratulations… that was a great job, by a great team,” he said.
Toronto beat the Golden State Warriors to win the NBA Championship. Golden State won the championship in 2017 and 2018.
Trump did not invite them to the White House after Golden State star player Steph Curry said that he did not want to go.
