Democrat presidential hopeful John Hickenlooper believes Americans who want guns should first be licensed and demonstrate an understanding of gun safety.
Hickenlooper was governor of Colorado from 2011-2019, during which time he enacted universal background checks and “high capacity” magazine bans, both of which failed to stop numerous high profile shootings after their implementation.
These shootings include the November 27, 2015, Planned Parenthood shooting (two civilians and an officer killed), the October 31, 2015, Colorado Springs, shooting (three innocents killed), the December 31, 2017, fatal shooting of Deputy Zackari Parrish, and, most recently, the May 7, 2019, STEM School Highlands Ranch shooting (one innocent killed).
Now, Hickenlooper wants to require gun buyers to first acquire a license and take a course, similar to what is required of people buying and driving cars:
Interestingly, Hickenlooper does not admit to the failures of pet gun controls. Rather, he follows those failings by pushing for new and more stringent laws.
