Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts pushed gun control in reaction to the University of North Carolina Charlotte (UNCC) shooting before the facts of the shooting were even known.
She tweeted, “We don’t have to live like this. Our children sure as hell shouldn’t die like this. No other high income country would allow this. But no other peer nation allows gun lobbyists to write their gun laws.”
She then re-tweeted New State Assemblyman Michael Blake’s (D) tweet, which said, “Take 30 seconds and let this sink in. If your child or loved one experienced this on a school day, would you be fine with Republicans in Congress still doing nothing about Gun Laws?”
At the time this article is written, we know the name of the suspect and his age, which is 22. But we do not know what type of gun he used or how he acquired that gun. It is worth noting that North Carolina has more stringent handgun laws than many southern states, inasmuch as you must either possess a concealed carry permit or a pistol purchase permit to buy a handgun. (But the facts may show that the attacker used something other than a handgun.)
Also, we still do not know how the four wounded are doing. They have been transported to hospitals, but the specificity of their wounds has not been reported. Yet Watts is tweeting for gun control and retweeting a Democrat officeholder who is pushing for gun control as well.
