Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) released 12 years of her tax returns to her campaign website Monday, which made her the latest 2020 Democratic presidential candidate to make public more than a decade of tax returns.
“Amy believes that transparency and accountability are fundamental to good governance,” the website of Amy Klobuchar stated. “That’s why she’s released her tax returns for every year since she’s been a candidate for federal office.”
The returns span from 2006, the first year she was elected to the Senate, through 2017. As it is not included on the website, it is unclear whether Klobuchar has filed her 2018 tax return.
The official documents reveal Klobuchar and her husband, John Bessler, had a gross income of $292,306 and paid $62,787 in taxes, which comes to an estimated tax rate of 21.5 percent.
The couple made $5,075 in charitable gifts, which is included donations to multiple universities, UNICEF, and the American Red Cross.
Klobuchar joins other 2020 hopefuls in revealing more than a decade of tax returns. Other presidential hopefuls to do so include Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D).
