Donald Trump Turns Focus to Midwest Manufacturing Ahead of 2020 Election

President Donald Trump is turning his attention to the midwest, as Democrats are trying to woo back voters in the rust belt states.

On Thursday, the president plans to visit a military tank factory in Lima, Ohio that the administration kept in business, thanks to a new round of military spending.

A new order of M1A2 main battle tank from the United States Army revitalized the plant as employment is expected to exceed 1,000 workers.

While the president is in Ohio, he plans to attend a fundraiser with supporters in Canton as he prepares to campaign on the idea that he has helped save manufacturing jobs in the midwest as no other president could.

Trump renewed his focus last weekend in keeping auto manufacturing plants open in Ohio, torching General Motors and CEO Mary Barra for closing a plant in Lordstown, Ohio while opening plants in Mexico and China.

The president also plans to return to Michigan next week for a Make America Great Again Rally in Grand Rapids.

Trump only campaigned once in Michigan during the 2018 election, as Republican Senate candidate James Johns and Republican candidate for Governor Bill Schuette lost by wide margins to their Democrat rivals.

A February Morning Consult poll showed that Trump only had a 40 percent approval rating in Michigan, 41 percent in Wisconsin, and 45 percent in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

But the president believes that he can sustain the revolution in the midwest, thanks to his economic success in his first term as president and the loyalty of his base.

“They’re smarter and they’re tougher and they work their asses off,” Trump said about his supporters during an exclusive Oval Office interview with Breitbart News last week. “And that’s what came out; they came out of the valleys and the rivers, and they came all over the place. Honestly, you remember. Nobody knew they existed. They’re the real people. They’re the real great people.”
