President Donald Trump announced Tuesday his plan to visit Alabama after the state suffered deadly tornadoes earlier in the week.
“It’s been a tragic situation, but a lot of good work is being done,” Trump said. “We’ve been in constant touch with the governor.”
Trump announced the news prior to an event promoting veterans suicide prevention.
Tornadoes that hit Alabama on Sunday were blamed for the deaths of 23 people as they devastated Lee County.
Trump also recognized the storm damage in Georgia and Florida.
The president called for “A+” treatment for Alabama from the federal government in the wake of the storms.
