Impeachment activist Tom Steyer warned Democrats on Tuesday that they should impeach President Donald Trump “right now” and try to remove him from office because it is arrogant to assume that Trump will automatically lose reelection in 2020.

Steyer discussed former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz’s potential independent presidential bid that could siphon off anti-Trump voters in 2020 as a reminder that “there will be tons of events between now and November of 2020 that no one has predicted.”

“For the people who are saying we should just wait until November of 2020 because they’re so sure they know what’s going to happen in November of 2020, think Howard Schultz’s announcement that he was considering running as an independent,” Steyer reportedly said. “It’s a stark reminder that there will be tons of events between now and November of 2020 that no one has predicted, that will change the facts on the ground, and that what we need to do is the right thing right now.”

Steyer reportedly added that Democrats who think any Democrat can coast to an easy victory in 2020 are displaying “a level of arrogance that’s unwarranted.”

The billionaire held his “Need To Impeach” Summit in DC this week and his group delivered also articles of impeachment to all House Members on Tuesday, ramping up the group’s efforts to pressure House Democrats to go all-in on impeachment.

Steyer is also pressuring Democrats running for president to back impeachment, saying on Sunday: “Unless you support impeachment, we’re not supporting you.”
