Senator Dean Heller lost his re-election race on Tuesday against Democrat challenger Jacky Rosen.
Rosen beat Heller by five points – 50.4 percent to 45.4 percent with 92 percent of the vote reporting.
Heller called early Wednesday morning to concede the race.
Polls before the election showed the two candidates exchanging the lead by only a few points, but the Democratic machine built by former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid delivered a victory for his party.
President Donald Trump campaigned for Heller in September despite the Senator’s “99 percent” opposition to him during the 2016 presidential election.
“We started out, we weren’t friends. I didn’t like him. He didn’t like me,” Trump said. “And as we fought and fought and fought, believe it or not, we started to respect each other, then we started to like each other, then we started to love each other.”
Trump referred to Rosen as “Wacky Jacky” and urged his supporters to support Heller.
