Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) mocked a protester on Thursday for calling for a polygraph test for Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Sen. Graham started a series of interviews with various reporters after the FBI released its reporting investigating accusations that Kavanaugh engaged in sexual misconduct while he was in high school in the 1980s.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said the FBI report revealed “no hint” of sexual assault regarding Kavanaugh’s past.
Grassley said regarding the FBI report:
There’s nothing in it that we didn’t already know. These uncorroborated accusations have been unequivocally and repeatedly rejected by Judge Kavanaugh, and neither the Judiciary Committee nor the FBI could locate any third parties who can attest to any of the allegations. There’s also no contemporaneous evidence. This investigation found no hint of misconduct and the same is true of the six prior FBI background investigations conducted during Judge Kavanagh’s 25 years of public service.
Sen. Graham said that he’s ready to vote, now that the FBI completed the background check.
“To those who suggest he had a problem like this from prior interviews – no evidence of that, that’s all manufactured,” Graham said. “The senators who requested the supplemental FBI background check got what they requested, and I am ready to vote.”
Sen. Graham also said that Senate Democrats have engaged in an operation to destroy Kavanaugh’s life.
“The Brett Kavanaugh that I knew before the committee is the Brett Kavanaugh I know now; the only difference is the effort ruin this man’s life,” the South Carolina said.
In another interview with Fox News, one protester suggests that Kavanaugh should take a polygraph test to determine whether he did engage in sexual misconduct.
Graham fires back, suggesting that the Supreme Court nomination process has become a witch hunt, “Why don’t we dunk him in the water and see if he floats?”
