Police shot a homicide suspect seven times after he refused to obey an order not to move and exited his vehicle with a knife in his hand.
Police activity identified the suspect as 31-year-old Dustin Montano. He was wanted for the stabbing deaths of his “53-year-old aunt, Debra Martinez and her 17-year-old daughter, Irisa Montano.”
Dustin Montano was shot by police on May 24, in a Walmart parking lot in Fort Morgan, Colorado. He died the next day. Video of the incident has just been released.
The video shows Montano close himself into his car after being ordered not to move. He then opens the door and exits with a knife in his hand and two of the officers opened fire.
Following Dustin Montano’s death KRQE reported that he had served eight years in a Texas prison for manslaughter. The manslaughter conviction resulted from Montano stabbing a man in the chest when he was only 19.
Montano’s family says he remained violent often threatened them once out of prison.
