A suspected gunman is dead and four innocents are wounded following a shooting at the building which contains Fayette County Magistrate Court in Masontown, Pennsylvania.

The incident occurred around 2 pm local time.

WPVI reports that the suspect “was due in court on charges related to a recent domestic violence incident.” Those charges involved “strangulation, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and simple assault.”

The suspect entered the courthouse lobby with a handgun and was confronted by Masontown police Sgt. R. Scott Miller. The suspect exchanged gunfire with Miller, wounding him, then went on to shoot male civilians and a woman. A German Township officer then shot and killed the suspect.

All the civilians are listed in fair condition and Sgt. Miller is listed as good.

NBC News reports that Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Steve Dowlin praised the actions of the police that engaged the suspect, saying, “I want to make it clear: Without the rapid response of these brave officers to the shooting, more individuals may have been shot.”
