Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson and a delegation of administration officials traveled to Puerto Rico on Thursday.
Ben Carson and the delegation visited Governor Ricardo Rosselló to discuss the ongoing efforts to rebuild Puerto Rico as the island struggles to restore critical infrastructure after being hit by Hurricane Maria in 2017.
Democrats continue to blame President Donald Trump for the slow recovery of the U.S. territory despite the president signing billions of dollars of aid.
A group of 19 other officials from the Departments of Homeland Security, Education, Health and Human Services, Energy, and FEMA joined Carson for the trip, as well as representatives from the Department of Defense.
Carson will deliver a speech at the one-year anniversary memorial ceremony of the hurricane that devastated the country.
Russelló thanked Carson for his visit on Twitter.
