Two people wearing “Trump 2020,” t-shirts were accosted and threatened by far-left counter-protesters in Washington, DC, demonstrating against the white nationalist-led “Unite The Right 2” rally on Sunday afternoon.
A man and woman were hit with water and “some other chemical,” as they reportedly walked away from the general direction of the Unite The Right 2 rally, according to video footage obtained by USA Today politics reporter Christal Hayes.
The pair were said to be followed by counter-protesters for a number of blocks. Local law enforcement officers eventually escorted the two — who had their hair pulled and other objects thrown at them — away from the area. It is not known if the man and woman were a part of the white nationalist rally.
“You scared ass b*tch,” one counter-protester taunted the women wearing the pro-Trump t-shirt. “F*ck you!” shouted another towards the pair. “I’ll break your fucking face, bitch!” threatened another.
As Breitbart News reported, white nationalists who marched on downtown Washington and rallied at a park near the White House left the area in white vans under a police escort.
The demonstration led by the principal organizer of last year’s “Unite the Right” event in Charlottesville, Virginia, Jason Kessler, ended earlier than expected. Those marching with Kessler numbered only about 30, far fewer than the 100 to 400 he predicted in a permit for the demonstration.
Thousands of far-left counter-protesters, including Antifa, showed up to jeer and shout insults at the white nationalists as they made their way through Washington streets. Police kept the two sides separated during the march and the rally.
The white nationalists were commemorating last year’s Unite the Right event in Charlottesville, which turned violent and deadly.
