President Donald Trump celebrated the great economic numbers in the United States on Monday, vowing again to make trade negotiations a priority.
“Economy has never been better, jobs at best point in history,” he wrote on Twitter. “Fixing our terrible Trade Deals is a priority-and going very well.”
Trump commented on trade amidst his trade fight with China and his threats to raise tariffs again to force the country to the negotiation table.
Chinese state media slammed Trump in personal terms during the weekend, accusing him of “carefully orchestrated street fighter-style deceitful drama.”
On Sunday, Trump claimed on Twitter that the tariffs were “working big time.”
“Every country on earth wants to take wealth out of the U.S., always to our detriment,” he wrote. “I say, as they come, Tax them. If they don’t want to be taxed, let them make or build the product in the U.S.”
Trump also vowed to fix the American immigration system to get more workers for businesses returning to the United States:
