The National Right to Life and the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation endorsed Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA) for the U.S. Senate on Monday.
National Right to Life President Carol Tobias and other executives said in a statement on Monday:
We strongly commend you for maintaining a perfect 100 percent pro-life voting record throughout your years of service in Congress. All Pennsylvania voters who are concerned with the right to life and with the protection of the most vulnerable members of the human family should vote to send you to the U.S. Senate, so that you can continue to work to advance vital pro-life public policies.
“In contrast, your opponent, Bob Casey, supports giving hundreds of millions of dollars of government funds to the nation’s largest abortion provider,” the National Right to Life said.
“Through your voting record you have demonstrated tireless dedication to safeguarding the rights of Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable citizens, and we are honored to support you in your bid for the Senate,” Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation PAC Director Maria Vitale Gallagher said in a statement on Monday.
The National Right to Life commended Rep. Barletta for voting for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would protect unborn children at 20 weeks, a point by which an unborn child can feel pain. Barletta also voted for the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, a bill which would establish a permanent federal policy to ban funding abortions or health plans that cover abortions as well as legislation to deny federal funding to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.
Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) has a 100 percent voting record with the pro-abortion group NARAL and scored zero percent with the National Right to Life last year.
Casey wrote an op-ed last year, charging that Planned Parenthood “must be protected.”
A recent Franklin and Marshall poll revealed that 56 percent of Pennsylvanians will not for Sen. Casey in the 2018 midterm elections.
