A prison reform plan being pushed by White House adviser Jared Kushner and the billionaire GOP megadonors the Koch brothers would continue to allow illegal alien prisoners to participate in job training programs.
The legislation, which is being fast-tracked and is awaiting approval in the Senate, would not prohibit imprisoned illegal aliens or deportable foreign nationals from participating in prison work programs that proponents say would reduce recidivism.
Dan Cadman with the Center for Immigration Studies noted the loophole, writing that while illegal aliens would not be able to reduce their sentences by participating in the prison work programs, they would still be allowed to take part in the initiative, which is expected to cost American taxpayers $50 million over five years.
As Breitbart News reported, the prison reform plan would immediately set free about 4,000 convicts.
The prison reform plan would expand prison work programs that provide job training. The programs are a major benefit to corporations that would see a steady stream of workers out of prisons whom they do not have to train.
The pro-mass immigration Koch brothers are committed to securing prison reform ahead of the 2018 midterm elections, despite its lack of support among the American public.
Prison reform, along with amnesty for illegal aliens, is a driving issue of the Kochs, as well as Kushner, who has yet to have a major legislative victory in the Trump administration.
Koch executives, many of which have close ties to Vice President Mike Pence and Legislative Affairs Director Marc Short, held meetings at the White House with Trump officials and were able to get the president to sign off on the plan despite his “Law and Order” message on the campaign trail.
