Lance Roark, a Montana trucker, slammed Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) in a letter to the editor in the Montana Standard on Thursday, stating he wants a senator “who will represent Montana, not Chuck Schumer.”
Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) recently announced he will back legislation that would change the hours of service for truckers hauling livestock due to the negative backlash regarding the enforcement of Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs). Roark noted that Tester voted for this legislation in 2012.
Roark chastised Tester for voting with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and then flip-flopping when his liberal policies hurt Montanans.
Roark wrote:
I can see through Tester’s inconsistency. He votes with Chuck Schumer for ELD enforcement of the hours of service, but when the law is enacted he is surprised by the consequences it has for Montana’s most vital industries. Like most Democrats, Tester makes it look like he is doing something helpful while ignoring the unintended consequences and impact it has on the little guy.
The Montanan trucker then discussed his support for rancher and state auditor Matt Rosendale for U.S. Senate, contending that Rosendale will fight harmful government regulations.
Roark continued:
As a trucker, Veteran, and father, I want to elect someone who will represent Montana, not Chuck Schumer.I’m supporting Matt Rosendale because he will have the courage to stand up to big government every single day, not do damage control around election time.
Sen. Tester drew the ire of President Donald Trump for smearing White House physician Ronny Jackson after Trump nominated Jackson to serve as secretary of Veterans Affairs. Trump said Tester should resign.
Trump tweeted in April, “The Secret Service is unable to confirm (in fact they deny) any of the phony Democrat charges which have absolutely devastated the wonderful Jackson family. Tester should resign”:
Breitbart News Saturday host Matthew Boyle noted in an exclusive interview with Rosendale that Sen. Tester serves as the “most reliable vote for Chuck Schumer” amongst the vulnerable Democrats up for re-election in 2018.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who endorsed the state auditor for Senate, asserted in an op-ed in the Montana Independent Record that Rosendale is a “fearless conservative leader.”
Sen. Paul wrote, “I’ve endorsed Matt Rosendale because I believe he will drain the swamp and will vote for a limited Constitutional government even if that means standing up to big spenders in the Republican Party.”
Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) also endorsed Rosendale for the U.S. Senate.
Rosendale said in an interview with Breitbart News Saturday, “We want to push through the primary, unite the party here in Montana, and take on Jon Tester and send him back to his farm.”
The Montana Senate Republican primary is June 5.
