A mother being pursued by robbery suspects in Nashville drove to her son’s home and he came out and opened fire, causing the suspects to flee.
WSMV reports the “suspects were driving behind the female victim” early Wednesday morning. They “bumped her car as she was turning into the alley near her son’s town home,” but she refused to stop, continuing instead to parking places near her son.
She then began blowing her horn and her son came out with a gun. The suspects allegedly shot at the son who then returned fire and the suspects fled.
Police believe the suspects may be tied to other robberies that have included bumping into victims’ cars to get them to stop.
Hours before the mother fled to her gun-owning son for protection another driver was bumped “from behind at the intersection of Sawyer Brown Road and Todd Pleis Drive.” He got out of his vehicle to inspect damage, only see an armed suspect exit the other vehicle and urge his fellow suspects to steal the car. The would-be victim jumped back in his car and drove off at a high rate of speed, eventually being stopped by the police and relaying news of the attempted carjacking.
