Student gun control activist David Hogg has gone from calling the NRA “pathetic f*ckers” to tweeting NRA gun safety guidelines.
His vitriol toward the NRA was most clearly expressed in an interview with The Outline after the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, wherein he described the NRA as “pathetic f***ers that want to keep killing our children.” He added, “They could have blood from children splattered all over their faces and they wouldn’t take action, because they all still see those dollar signs.”
On March 22, 2018, the Daily Wire reported on the interview by noting that Hogg lumped together Republican politicians with the NRA and said, “It just makes me think what sick f***ers out there want to continue to sell more guns, murder more children, and honestly just get reelected.”
Fast forward to May 13, 2018, when Hogg tweeted the NRA’s gun safety guidelines:
Those who click the meme are taken to an NRA article that explains fundamental gun safety. The three basics of such safety: 1. Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. 2. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. 3. Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
The NRA article also explains how to safely clean and store firearms. It includes a link to the NRA’s Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program, which is designed to teach children what to do “if they ever find a gun.”
On April 15, 2015, Breitbart News reported that Huffington Post was apoplectic after gun control advocate Mark Kelly tweeted praise for a gun safety program by the NRA’s Eddie Eagle:
