A Tucson, Arizona, woman shot a man who allegedly threatened her with a hatchet as she exited a store on the city’s south side.
Police arrived to find a man with an “obvious gunshot wound,” and he was transported to a hospital.
Tucson News Now reports that the woman exited a store Friday night around 8:30 pm and was approached by a man allegedly armed with a hatchet. She got in her car, but he allegedly refused to let her close the door once inside. She told police he allegedly raised the hatchet as if to strike so she shot him.
She was then able to keep the man on the scene until police arrived.
Tucson Police indicate the man “demanded the woman’s keys” prior to being shot.
He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
